GETTING THERE

  • Getting a lift from the airport in the back of someone's pickup truck.
  • One of the grimmest bus stations. Ever.
  • After a long and not terribly pleasant bus ride, the name of our ferry to the island holds great promise...
  • ... which turns out to be somewhat overhyped since a small dive boat is filling in while the Princess is under repair.
  • La Ceiba harbor.
  • Departing the mainland towards Utila.
  • About 90 minutes later, the little island emerges on the horizon.
  • Trundling down the street towards Mango Inn, a pleasant 10 minute walk from the pier.
  • Mango Inn!
  • Pamela, the manager, is efficient and friendly!
  • And our cabin turns out to be a special brand of spartan luxury.
